Picnic in the park

At least it felt like a picnic in the park. Of recent I've worked some 8 hour shifts, so I really only need a snack, not a full dinner. Bill, as usual, tries to come up with something that's just right for the occasion. Tonight he hit the nail on the head.

My snack was several semi-circles of dried salami, a wedge of brie cheese, small slices of french bread, and a salad of baby greens, meditarranean olives, dried cranberries, and crumbled cheese. The salad needs no explanation except to say that it was yummy. The rest really took me back to my childhood when we would have picnic lunches like this on the road (with cheddar cheese instead of the brie.) In any case, I melted the brie in the microwave, smeared it on the bread, and enjoyed it with the salami.

This was probably one of my most memorable meals. It ranks right up there with the lobster. ;)

Thanks again honey.

Weekend of yumminess

Friday night Bill asked me what I'd like for dinner (very unusual - usually he makes it a surprise.) I told him that the steak we had Wednesday night would make a nice sandwich. I never realized where that would go. He didn't just make a sandwich, he made a wonderful creation that involved the tastey steak, brie, bbq sauce, and mayo I think. It came with a gourmet salad, milk, and a nice little mini chocolate bar treat.

Tonight (Saturday night) I was treated to raviolis with a fancy smancey sauce, another gourmet salad, a nectarine, and milk. Yum, yum.

Both meals were just perfect in tastiness, variety, and size. Thanks honey!

Not transportable

Tonight I had to go on a transport to pick up a sick kid, and while dinner was delicious it had to wait til I got back as nothing was ambulance safe (except the Dr. Pepper and we'll get to that in a minute.)

The steak was perfectly cooked, even with reheating. The potatoes went uneaten as they weren't very good even with steak sauce added. I don't feel bad about that since I know the deli did the cooking on that item. The salad was once again delicious. I love the cranberries in it. The mixed berries were mostly good, but some tasted a little "off". All in all it was a pretty good meal though I had to eat so late that I'm still hungry.

The Dr. Pepper? You thought I forgot, didn't you? All I ask is that next time you send a drink requiring a bottle opener that you also send the bottle opener. Thankfully my partner in the ambulance had one on his utility knife, so I didn't go thirsty on the long ride. ;)

Thanks again for all the thought and effort you put into my dinners.

Unusual assortment of food

Dinner was a PBJ with blueberry jam (for future reference I'm not really fond of blueberry jam), cheddar cheese chips, a green salad with cranberries, peanuts, and garbanzo beans, and chocolate dipped strawberries. All good, just seemed like an odd assortment to me. Filled me up though and left me happy.

Thanks honey.

Steak, it's not just for dinner, or breakfast anymore

It's for those odd middle of the night meals that those of us forced to work off hours enjoy. Tonights was cooked perfectly and came with a lovely salad and two peach sized apricots. It was all very delicious and filled up that big empty spot inside my tummy.

Of note (and I forgot to mention this yesterday) is that I received a small regular milk and a large chocolate milk both nights. Usually it's the other way around. I like it better this way. Two thumbs up.

Thanks again to my chef hubby.

Mmmmmm, is all I can say cuz I am out of time.

Dinner was a yummy homemade chicken salad sandwich on a croissant roll with a garden salad and milk. There was some fruit in there too that I didn't get to eat because I got called back to the floor. Maybe I can snack on the way home.

Good job honey.

Back to work

Ok, it's been a long time, a really long time, a really, really long time since you got a work dinner update from me. That's because I haven't been at work, but now I am and dinners are back.

Tonights dinner started with a lovely turkey, cheese, and sundried tomato sandwich on a ciabatta style role. It was quite tasty. Just two problems, it was too big and you have to dry/blot sundried tomatoes on a paper towel before applying them to a sandwich. Other than that it was very good.

For sides I got Bing cherries, sugar snap peas, and salt and vinegar chips. Oh, and of course a milk and a chocolate milk. Mmmm, mmmm, good.

Thanks honey.
